Dan Uggla Is Headed Down The Freeway To SoCal!

In the eleventh hour of Saturday’s trade deadline the SoCal Wildfires and the
Santa Barbara Outlaws struck a deal sending shockwaves through the 805. SoCal
acquired 2nd baseman power hitter Dan Uggla in exchange, for SoCal's highly
touted phoneme Randall Delgado

Randall Delgado had a promising future with the Wildfires, but with the lack
of power at 2nd base, management felt that they needed to make a move, and
fill this position with someone of Uggla’s caliber. Uggla is in his last year of his
contract, so it is definitely a situation where one might look back and say that
wasn’t a good deal, if Uggla doesn’t put up the numbers everyone hopes he
will do. On the other hand the Wildfires Manager John Fredriksen was quoted
saying “We feel that our team is just as strong as it was last year and now we have
experience under our belt. We feel the time is now for this club and we feel we
have put our team in a very good situation for winning the NL Central this year
and going deep into the playoffs, and Uggla is going to help us get there.”

In addition to the deal the Wildfires received pitcher Jose Arredondo and some
cash for the young arm Randall Delgado. “We hate to give up such talent as
Delgado, but in order to get something you have to give up something.” Jose
Arredondo will make a great addition to the bullpen as a middle reliever.
